Just in case you're interested……….a little background info about me…..

I'm a 40-something year old chic who has been crafting in some way, shape or form since I was about 12. My mom and grandma taught me to knit and crochet when I was in grade school. Believe it or not, instead of running around on the playground during recess, (I'm a crafter, not an athlete!) I was out there teaching my fellow schoolmates how to knit and crochet! (Yes, I have always been a crafting geek!)

I used to do a LOT of cross stitch. I mean, a LOT. And I basically sold everything I made. Many years ago my mom, grandma and I had a booth in a local craft consignment shop. That's where I sold most of my stitchery. I was one woman's "secret weapon" when it came to personalized wedding gifts. After going to the gallery for mats to be cut several times, I decided to start cutting my own. That woman literally paid for my mat cutter and classes at Artist and Display. It's so nice to be able to mat your own stuff!

While cross-stitch is a very nice hobby, it's also very time-consuming and takes a while to complete a project. Beading is "instant gratification" since it takes a fraction of the time to get a project done. At the 2009 Bead and Button show I picked up a new tool call the Diva Cord Maker, and found a new use for my still massive collection of embroidery floss….now I can make my own coordinating cords! Maybe this will convince my hubby that it pays to hang on to stuff? LOL. I doubt it.

So, my favorite hobby the past 5+ years has been making jewelry. The last beaded earrings I bought were $27 at a craft fair years ago and after I bought them and took a look at them, I thought, OMG I bet I could do this myself! And I've been beading ever since. I don't even want to know how much money I have spent on beads. I prefer to be blissfully unaware of the cost. (The fact that I'm a bargain bead hunter makes me feel better.) I just know how invigorating it feels to come home from the bead shop or a bead show with a few new strands of beads. Ahh, the inspiration!

I've also been addicted to computers ever since that Christmas long long ago (the best Chrismtas EVER!) when my grandparents gave me my first one - a Texas Instruments TI/94A. I loved that thing. I used to try to build my own little programs, etc. Well, that really dates myself, doesn't it? So that just proves I have been playing with computers for a long time. And I've been playing with websites ever since I got a "real" computer back in the mid 90's. I'm a creative person, and luckily I've found several outlets in which to express that. Creating websites is just another one of my hobbies.

By day I'm a Business Analyst at an insurance company. By night I'm a jewelry designer/website designer/writer. It's fun to find a way to combine all of those things into one!
